First Down

First Down

Aroe, DJ Clear, Surprise, Corrupt, Baron Demus, DJ Hyste

I first heard First Down in a friends car on the way to a recording session, the track was ‘Jaw Warfare’ and it absolutely blew me away. The crew from Brighton changed their line up for their second release ‘Let The Battle Begin’ EP three years after ‘Jaw Warfare’, the line up was Aroe, Corrupt, Baron Demus and DJ Hyste, all were graffitti artists. Once signing to Blitz Vinyl, a Germany based label, in 1994, they released 1,000 copies of an EP called ‘Mad Dogs And Englishmen’ with only 300 reaching the UK. After that release they released their stunning debut album ‘World Service’ on the same label, another album was created in 1996 called ‘The Whole World Is Watching’ but unfortunately never got an official release.
