Biography
Starting out as the A&R man at the Music Of Life label, Derek B got his break when Music Of Life were doing a compilation of US tracks called Def Beats 1. Due to lack of money they ran out of tracks and Derek B stepped in as both DJ (Derek B) and Emcee (EZQ) on a track called 'Rock The Beat' which was later released as a 12 inch. He released a couple more 12 inches on Music Of Life before moving to Tuff Audio and releasing his debut album called Bullet From A Gun with which he achieved commercial success and also success in the USA. Unfortunately, on the 15th November 2009, Derek B died of a heart attack in London. R.I.P. |
